Hi again :X Think this time i will update on my All-Boys Camp :X
Im just back from the camp D: so tired that i slpt thru my whole afternoon D:
Sorry this is gonna be a wordy post w/o any pics. No pics are allowed in the camp.
Ytd, went to school split into our platoons and surrendered valuables to them, then went to a REAL army camp to experience the life there sort of.. The camp we went to was the 4SIR camp ( 4th battlelion Singapore Infantry Regiment), which is at Lim Chu Kang ._. bused there then got off went into the camp, recieved group by group by our Sergeant. After attendance making, went to their parade square, and we just lierally followed in their assembly and flag raising ceremony. Its quite scary when u hear how loud and uniform their 'stomps' are when doing drills, and even louder when all assemble together for the flag raising. :X Oh and its the first time i heard Majulah Singapura being sang so loudly, with all the low male voices :X but off-tempo la XD shall not comment on that :X :X ~
After that we had a sharing session from our platoon Sergeant IC to know more abt army life :X After which followed by lunch in the army cafeteria. Wow Morgan!! didnt bluff us ar? Army food really very nice :X we had fried rice, fried chicken wings, 2 chicken satay and 2 mutton satay, some sour appetiser vege, yellow bean paste for dessert and.... ICE CREAM??!!! and its not only us. While eating in the cafeteria, the real army guys from the camp came into the cafeteria for lunch too. They had the exact same thing as us :X
After that we had station sharing by the Sergeants there :D First was to identify and try some edible plants, which would be a survival skill if you are outfield in the jungle/forest. Second was combat rations :O quite nice i would say :X At first it was in that flat green bag, feeling so watery that i didnt even know how to actually eat it, but i will share with u later on :D how to eat i mean, not share the food ._. After that we went to look at the SOC ( Standard Obstacle Course), demonstated by one of the Sergeants again. Wow it looks freaking tough la, but that guy do until it seemed so easy and effortless ._. >.< Went to the Equipment station after that. Showed us how to apply face camo and explained to us why they changed the army uniform. And of cause equipment cant be complete without... the weapons!! some of the Sergeants there showed us how the guns work and in the free time told us their experiences also :D quite cool :D
The last station of the day is the pretty gross one.. pls skip to next para if u are lighthearted. They showed us how to kill LIVE animals for survival in the jungle, but whatever they kill they must eat it. Had 2 different animals which they showed. First was the Quail (idk spell correct anot).. The Sergeants stand one line, take the quails in their hand and all demo killing it together :X quite gross i shall not go into detail :X Then was the bullfrog.. Something funny happened here, because their motto for killing is to be a swift kill so that the animal does not suffer ( feel no pain), but for the bullfrog, they had to knock it out by hitting it til it faints first, and one of the sergeants took the frog ( i think he not very experienced bah, his superior keep giving instructions to him too), whack again the table.. EHH HVNT FAINT!! LOL!! continue whack 2 more times, still hvnt faint :X (cannot let the animal feel any pain :X) so his superior took over, and 1 hit KO the frog :X
After that was dinner, which we tried combat rations HAHA :D some of them is really quite nice la, but i hate mine, cause it tasted just like the rice dumpling that my grandmother makes, which is definitely not a new taste to me.. Well i will now tell u know it is eaten.. It is eaten.... NORMALLY :X the whatever pasta/noodle/rice is alr packed nicely in the ration packet, in a rectangle shape with all the other ingredients inside too, so when u push the food out of the ration packet, it looks lyk a pancake :X
We had nightwalk after dinner, walked quite far out and back haha :X and we got to try the Night Vision Goggles :O so cool!! :X really grants you green sight at night HAHA :D they let us try at a place where they is no light at all, and let us try the goggles to see the area and spot things(water bottles, field packs etc..) but i onli spotted a water bottle i think..
Went back to school after that but STILL cannot sleep.. The teachers had to talk kok to make sure we can only sleep at 1+am tsk tsk tsk.. And no showering also, we only had a mass powder bathe at the netball court :X shall not go into details again.. OH AND 1+ finally can sleep, 5am wake up, 5.30 assemble :X so didnt brush teeth lor.. sleep so little only and somemore no time..
Today morning, put on face camo for morning exercise conducted by the sergeants there :X All assemble together and do tgt, but not very hiong type of exercise la, just the warm-ups that they do.. and i think i will always have one memory in my head :X just impact me so hard, positively :X The sound is just so cool :X
The commanding sergeant for the exercise: "Good morning gentlemen."
We: "GOOD MORNING SERGEANT!!" in those kind of boomy, echoy and low voice :X
Due to lightning-risk, we cant play our outdoor games, but we had a mass water bomb session instead :X the moment they say start, water bombs flew at the rate of estimate 30-40 bombs per second :X IMBA!!~~
After that debrief and area cleaning, then went home :X D:
